Do you have a plan?

What pages are they going to view, what content are they going to read and what are they going to convert on? Understanding this will help you design a site that helps feed leads through the sales funnel.

You want to design your site for the next step, not the last step. It is about answering the right questions in the right order. This could be where the context comes into play. Get what you already know about current customers (or even interview them) and research how they went from a visitor to a customer.

Certain items on your site will distract you from the value and message you are trying to convey. Complicated animations, content that is too long, crowded site images are just a few factors on the list.

With an audience that has only an attention span of 8 seconds, you need to create a first impression that easily gets the main points over. This should be done with short, strong sections of photos / content and applicable icons that are sectioned apart from clear and concise headers.

If you have the right ones, then examine and make sure it does not contain jargon or ambiguous terminology. It only serves to disturb the contentand confuse users.

A few words to avoid include next generation, flexible, robust, scalable, easy to use, cutting edge, innovative, best-of-breed, mission critical, innovative ... these are all words that have over used by hundreds , if not thousands of companies and does not make the content more attractive. 

Include Social Share and Follow Buttons

Producing great content and offers goes too far if you don't give users the opportunity to share what you have.

If your site does not currently have the share of social buttons, you could be missing out on a lot of social media traffic , which is generated by people already reading your blog!

If this sounds new to you, social sharing buttons are small buttons that are around the top or bottom of the blog. They contain different icons of the social media site and allow you to share the page directly on the social media channel of your choice.

These buttons act as a non-insistent toolwhich encourages social sharing of your Buyer Personas.

Once visitors land on your site, don't know what to do next? They won't know which pages to view or take action on unless you give them some sort of direction.

Call-to-action buttons are one of the many items that indicate the next step the user should take on a page. While many of us know this, it can be easy to fail to use them accurately to guide users through the site.

Use the right Images

Not every image will match the type of message you are trying to show to your audience.

Fortunately, you have a lot to choose from (even some that are free). But still, because it caught many of us deciding to plague our site with extremely crowded photos.

Just because a stock site has the image, doesn't mean it looks genuine and will evoke trust in your company. Ideally, you want to use photos that depict images of real people working for your company and the office itself.

If real photos are not an option, there are techniques you can use to help choose the right type of photo stock. This will help bring more brand realism and making sure the images match who you are and what your content explains.
