Make your visitors feel safer
Research has shown that you sell more and have fewer dropped out orders when your website or shop has an SSL certificate. This is because the visitor has more certainty that he is on a secure website and is more likely to proceed with a purchase.

Google Chrome will mark websites without SSL as “unsafe”
In addition, Google Chrome will automatically mark websites that do not have an SSL certificate (HTTPS) as “unsafe” from July 2018, even if no personal data of the visitor is exchanged. (Source: https://tweakers.net ).
Not having a certificate will therefore mean that visitors will spend less time on your website and potentially think that your website is unsafe and maybe hacked. And this is not ideal for your image!
Your website higher in the search results
HTTPS secured websites are more likely to rank higher in Google than HTTP sites. Since 2014, secure websites are ranked higher in the search results than non-secure (HTTP) websites. The degree to which your website is secured is therefore a ranking factor.
