Fashion is a multibillion-dollar industry that, whether we are fully aware of it or not, affects many more things than just the clothes we wear. Ranging from big fashion houses to lesser-known designers who are just starting out, fashion is most inspiring. Even if jeans and a t-shirt are some of your favourite outfits (we are big fans of the casual look too), you can use these trends to inspire breathtaking web design.
A great way to make a big 'boom' is to incorporate patterns into your site design. It can be used anywhere from your site's background to your footer). But which pattern is the most fashionable? Geometric shapes? The stripes? Nautical motifs? Floral? Bigger shapes or smaller ones? Check out fashion blogs or just grab a trending magazine and look at the pages of it for inspiration and point you in the right direction.
Embrace the new minimalism trend
Sometimes less is more. The same can be said for web design - using minimalism design is a great way to do things clearly but simply. We could go on, but we think Coco Chanel explained it in the best possible way: "Before you leave the house, look in the mirror and take a piece off." Some classic minimalist fashion brands that you could take inspiration from include: Calvin Klein, Jil Sandre, and Alexander Wang.
Be bold with color
Each season, the fashion industry names a new King of Color (or a few). Black and white and color blocking have been trending for a few seasons, but you can still find out which colors will be considered “in” by browsing fashion blogs or doing a quick Google search. Once you have the season's color scheme in mind, you can change your website colors accordingly. It's an easy way to keep your website fresh.
Accessorize like no other
Whether it's a gemstone necklace, an accessory like a watch or a bag, an outfit is not the same without stylish accessories. The same can be said for a website - adding stylish accessories to your website like sounds of bells, and cute icons can make a big difference.
Create a fierce logo
Large? Small? Icon? Just text? All in capitals? Texture? Your logo is basically meant to be kept, so you need to do it right the first time around and match it with your brand. It's something that big fashion brands have understood and embraced. For example, when we say 'Chanel' - what comes to mind? Exactly, you know.
Take typography seriously
Fashion designers, fashion magazines, fashion campaigns, they all emphasize typography. If you need a nudge in the right typographic direction, trendy fashion magazines are a great source of inspiration. Pay special attention to how magazine covers organize their text with photo-typography combos. They use fonts which are now very popular and can work very well in website design.
